The DEBO Alliance is a strong network of likeminded organizations that exists to see every child in Ethiopia belonging in a family.
The DEBO Alliance is a strong network of likeminded organizations that exists to see every child in Ethiopia belonging in a family.
A single organization on its own cannot provide all the support to millions of children in need through limited service lines. Instead of working in isolation or competion with one another, organizations need to collaborate to bring about a significant difference.
Each DEBO member organization must demonstrate a dedication to best practice in their work. Additionally, DEBO is a center for resource sharing between organization to develop and publish methods for how we can better serve OVCs with excellence.
Each individual can be a solution to the ongoing orphan crisis. DEBO is working as a catalyst to inspire the local community and provide them with meaningful ways to become involved in caring for OVCs as an volunteer or adoptive parent.
One of the biggest challenges currently facing Ethiopia is the ever-increasing number of orphaned and vulnerable children (an estimated 5.6 million). In spite of the efforts of many local and international organizations, the challenge still remains great. DEBO Alliance exists to bring these hardworking organizations together to achieve shared goals and vision. The alliance became a registered network in 2021, but the founding organizations have been mobilizing resources and individuals since 2014.
This annual gathering serves to inspire and train the local community to become a solution for the orphan crisis.
The combined reach of the DEBO Alliance reaches thousands of children and families all across Ethiopia.
DEBO Alliance exists for three purposes: bringing organizations together, championing best practices and resources, and mobilizing the local community. We believe that as individuals and organizations we have a responsibility to stand up and become a solution for the orphan and vulnerable child.
Organizations operating in Ethiopia and sharing DEBO’s core values are invited to fill out an application for membership.
Every year, DEBO hosts a 2 day Orphan Summit in Addis Ababa to inspire, equip, and mobilize the community.
DEBO provides resources for best practice in orphan care at no cost for our members and other interested individuals.
